European Music Managers Alliance (EMMA) invites experienced music managers to apply as mentors for their international EMMpower Mentorship Program, co-funded by the European Union. EMMpower Mentorship’s objective is to support emerging music managers and impact the future of the music industry.

 

  • European music managers wanted for EMMPower Mentorship Program (April-December 2023)

The music industry faces significant challenges in the post-pandemic era, increasing the need for creative and resilient music managers. That’s why EMMA is launching the EMMpower Mentorship Program, connecting early-stage music managers to established professionals in other European countries. The program aims to improve European music managers’ skills, know-how, and competitiveness on a global scale. We are recruiting experienced European music managers to join as paid mentors, helping to guide the next generation of music professionals. The EMMpower Mentorship Program will run from April to December 2023.

To become a mentor, candidates should have the following:

  • Currently residing and actively working within Europe.
  • At least 7 years of experience in the local and international music industry
  • At least 5 years of experience as an artist manager with proven achievements
  • Active participation in key events and projects in the global music industry
  • A well-developed network in the international music industry
 

As part of the EMMpower Mentorship program, mentors will receive the following:

  • 2,500 EUR compensation
  • Professional mentoring skills training
  • Regular check-ins to assist with resources, expert perspectives, and solutions for challenges faced in mentee relationships
  • Access to the EMMA community and networking opportunities
 

The ideal candidate should also have the following skills:

  • Strong strategic planning skills for an artist’s long-term career development
  • Ability to build an artist’s brand
  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas: release and distribution, streaming, music marketing and promotion, publishing and synchronization, business models and plans, contracts and copyrights, booking or export
  • Good understanding of the music industry’s structure and roles
  • Business proficiency for financial sustainability of artists
  • Interpersonal skills (relationship building and communication)
  • Ability to handle stress and regulate emotions
 

No prior mentoring experience is necessary, as mentors will receive professional training in the program. However, previous experience as a mentor, educator, or coach and a willingness to share knowledge and support others’ development are welcome.

Mentors are required to:

  • Participate in mentoring competencies training in April 2023
  • Provide 20 hours of online mentoring to two mentees each from April to December 2023
  • Participate in the whole program, including supervision meetings, EMMA community networking meetings, and monthly online educational workshops
  • Review mentees’ business plans
