The European Music Managers Alliance (EMMA) is pleased to welcome the German music managers association The Interest Group Music Managers & Consultants e.V. (IMUC) to the pan-European alliance of music managers.

EMMA brings together music managers forums in Belgium, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the UK, with links to allied organisations in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. With addition of Germany’s IMUC, this advocacy work is expanded to more than 1800 music managers across Europe’s most commercially significant music markets, as well as another 600 worldwide.

Per Kviman, Chair of EMMA and CEO of Versity Music:
“The board of EMMA is very happy that IMUC joins our alliance as the tenth European country, which further strengthens our collective voice and scope. The organization now represents management companies based in all the biggest commercial markets in Europe. We look forward to working together to support these entrepreneurs and the artists and music makers they represent as we move forward after the pandemic.”

Wolfgang Weyand, President of IMUC:
“We are very pleased to become a part of the united voice of European managers. In general, and particularly in these difficult times, it has become clear how important it is to work for a constructive dialogue between the industry and policy makers, both on a national and international level.”

Tessy Schulz, Member of the Board, head of International Affairs, IMUC Germany:
“Among several other themes, we will focus on pushing further the topic of fair and equal distribution of revenues amongst artists. Education and research are of utmost importance for EMMA, which fully aligns with our strategic direction. The collaboration will also serve as an investment into the future and the professional development of our members.”

Since 2020, EMMA has been working with the Fair Share initiative in Germany. The organization will continue supporting Fair Share’s work for fair compensation and transparency for artists and copyright holders. IMUC has also been campaigning for several years for appropriate payment of digital revenues for artists in Germany.

Additionally, EMMA is pleased to announce the appointment of Petra Kauraisa as its new Executive Director. Petra will replace outgoing Executive Director, Yvonne Stausboll.

With over 20 years’ experience in the music and film industries in Stockholm, London and Los Angeles, Petra brings extensive knowledge of entertainment marketing, communications and strategy. She has been marketing executives for several labels in Sweden, a publicist for festivals such as the Los Angeles Film Festival, Slamdance Film Festival, as well as Sweden’s Way Out West and acted as a consultant for Star Stable, one of the world’s biggest computer games (MMORPG) for girls, and one of Europe’s fastest growing tech companies.

Petra was an integral part of creating the “50/50 by 2020” campaign for gender parity in the global film industry. During the pandemic, she has been the driving force behind an initiative to unite the entire Swedish event industry across music, theatre, events and sports.

Based in Sweden and London, Petra will be responsible for the EMMA’s general management, as well as leading on policy issues, educational activities and partnerships.

Per Kviman, Chair of EMMA:
“I am delighted to welcome Petra as our new Executive Director and look forward to working with her to take our organization forward, expanding our engagement with other industry organizations and policymakers. I would also like to say thanks to Petra’s predecessor, Yvonne Stausboll, and the important work she did behind the scenes, especially during the pandemic.”
